Special School Board Meeting February 4, 2008

The board met on Monday, February 4, 2008. All six board members were present (Ainsworth, Dubcak, Lawrence, Watson, Young, and Kennedy).

 The board discussed budget concerns during a scheduled budget workshop. No action was taken.

 The board accepted the superintendent’s recommendation to apply for a class size waiver for one fourth grade   class. Lawrence motion and Watson seconded. Motion passed 6-0.

 The board went into closed session at 6:11pm to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation.

 The board returned to open session at 8:08pm.

 Lawrence made a motion and Dubcak seconded to approve the superintendent’s evaluation. Motion passed 6-0.

 The meeting adjourned at 8:10pm.

 During the Closed Meeting, the following specific items will be considered:

         551.071  Private consultation with the Board’s attorney on a matter in which the      duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the Texas          Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas

                        clearly conflicts with this chapter.

         551.074  An executive session will be held to deliberate the appointment,      evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public

                        officer or employee; or to hear a complaint or charge against an officer

                        or employee

                        Discussion of superintendent’s annual evaluation.

If, during the course of the meeting, discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in a closed meeting, the Board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Government Code, Chapter 551, Subchapters D and E or Government Code section 418.183(f).  Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section or sections of the Act authorizing the closed meeting.  All final votes, actions, or decisions will be taken in open meeting.

551.073  Discussing negotiated contracts for prospective gifts or donations

551.074  Discussing personnel or to hear complaints against personnel

      551.076  Considering the deployment, specific occasions for, or implementation of,  security personnel or     devices

      551.082  Consider discipline of a public school child or children or to hear a complaint by an employee against another employee

      551.0821 Consider a matter regarding a public school student where personally identifiable information about the student will necessarily be revealed by the deliberation

      551.083  Considering the standards, guidelines, terms, or conditions the board will follow, or will instruct     its representatives to follow, in consultation with representatives of employee groups

      551.084  Excluding witnesses from a hearing

      551.087  Considering economic development negotiations

      551.088  Deliberation regarding test items

         Should any formal action, final decision, or final vote be required in the opinion of the School Board with regard to any matter considered in such closed or executive session, then the final action, final decision, or final vote shall be either:

a.             in the open meeting covered by the Notice upon the reconvening of the public meeting; or

b.            at a subsequent public meeting of the School Board upon notice thereof; as the School Board shall determine.

         On this 1st day of February, 2008, this Notice was mailed or faxed to news media who had previously requested such Notice and an original copy was posted in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act at 1:00 p.m.
