Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at CHS! I am Mrs. Boothe and I teach the Family and Consumer Science classes. Some people may recognize FCS as "Homemaking." It is no longer known as homemaking because FCS has grown to encompass a wide array of careers that extend beyond the home.
I serve as the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) advisor. This club is open to any FCS student. In the past we have competed in culinary arts competitions similar to Iron Chef America and Chopped. If you are interested, please see me or a current FCS member.
I also serve as the TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) advisor. This club is new to CHS this year and is open to any student interested in becoming a future educator. We serve as the VP school for region 6 for the 2011 - 2013 school years. Several students completed at the regional level in November of 2011 this year. Brady Shuh placed 1st in the "Wild About Teaching" speech contest and LeVeshia Johnson placed 3rd in the same contest. Brady will be advancing to state on Feb. 12th in San Antonio.
I will be leaving for maternity leave on Feb. 24th and Ms Harvey will be my full-time sub. I will still be monitoring grades and will be available via email if you have any concerns about grades or assignments.
My class schedule is:
1st period: Principles of Hospitality and Tourism
Advisory: 12th grade
2nd period: Nutrition
3rd period: Culinary Arts
4th period: Practicum of Human Services (Work Program)
5th period: Principles of Hospitality and Tourism
6th period: Work Supervision
7th period: Conference
My email is email@example.com.
